On Tuesday 23rd November, a group of 16 people who are part of Hand In Hand Activities CIC activities came together to enjoy a festive lunch at Cafe Sapore in Hartburn Village. As the attendees had chosen to meet in November, we didn’t have the usual festive lunch set menu to choose from but we did have a nice variety of Italian favourites that were freshly made on the day for us to enjoy.

Then on Thursday 25th November, 9 people from different activity groups met at The Ship in Redmarshall for another festive gathering. Again, we didn’t have a festive menu to choose from but The Ship offers quite an extensive range of menus to choose from.

One of the best things, from my point of view, was that both meals brought people together from different activity groups, some of them did not know each other prior to the festive gathering and yet they were all talking like they had been best friends for years. Although, one thing that we did learn for next time is to provide name badges for these sessions so that it is easier for people to hold conversations and not rely on recall of names.

For both meals, the food was very good and the company was exceptional.

Cafe Sapore tasty food, few drinks & good company. I met a few ladies i didnt know but the conversation flowed & before we knew it 3hrs had passed. It is nice to end the year amongst friends & remember the good times we’ve had doing various fun things & having a lot of laughs.

Enjoyed the meal at Cafe Sapore. It was good to see the event was well attended. The conversation flowed and the time passed quickly. Everyone enjoyed their food. Thanks Alison for your hard work organising the event.

It was good to meet people from the other groups. My Dad Geoff enjoyed the company and the meal at Cafe Sapore. When you live alone sharing a meal with others is a real treat. Dad spoke to Sue Smith who is part of a local history group in Norton. Dad grew up there and Sue posted him some booklets on the Church and the pubs. Dad loved these.

Dad also used it as a chance to thank his carers Anne and Ravinda. He invited them to join him.

I went to Cafe Sapore with ladies and one gentleman from different groups run by Alison.
The meal itself was lovely but the best part was having long conversations with the members sat around me. We normally just have a little natter during or after group sessions, so it was good to learn a bit more about people and have a laugh too.
I’m certainly looking forward to the next social gathering. A big thank you to Alison for arranging this.

I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Sapore in November. The food was delicious and it was particularly good to have more time for chatting to friends we meet at different groups: eg Zumba, seated exercise, book and bakes etc. Good food , conversation and laughter – what a lovely afternoon! Thank you for organising it Alison – we appreciate it !
